Fall is in the air...
After months of alternating between heavy humidity and lackadaisical warmth, this morning was amazingly fresh. How do I explain it? The gentle and powerful wind reaches up like fingers and swirls my hair under my umbrella while the rain mist cools off my smiling face. I arrive at work with natural curls and a radiant feeling, alert to the events of the day and with the certainty that I CAN be kind to people today. I know the winter will come, but this morning feels like the first day of my life.
For too many weeks in a row I have been on display in my summer wear and it is wearing me out; I relish the idea of being able to hide myself from the world in fall clothing, revealing my best when I want to and not because the weather insists.

I am so glad you hooked me up to your blog, Lisa. I had some meditative thoughts about the comparison of seasons to our lives...watching grandpa in his difficult season of life....I really enjoyed your post. Love you and miss you so much. We have a new teacher from the deep south and she is so frustrated with this NM heat-and it is still blazing hot. She can't wait for the first day of Fall. Mom
ReplyDeleteLove you and miss you too, Mom! I like your thought...
ReplyDeleteAhhh! I love fall! Today was a day like that here. We spent 3 hours at the zoo today. Highs only in the 80s for the rest of the week:)
ReplyDeleteyadda yadda my back hurts just thinking about shoveling snow. icy slip and slide on us82 and nm6563. ice cold dome working on the telescope. that's what this cold front reminded me of. jk! can't wait for the penns to move to high rolls, it's perfect there right now. the corn is in and the apples are just around the corner. squirrels and chipmunks are crazy gathering for the winter. i stopped for one yesterday and almost got crashed into by some human in a hurry. and they acted like I was crazy. i guess i need to warn other drivers by putting a "I brake for sentient beings" bumper sticker on my car.
ReplyDeleteNegative anticipations can surely result from not being in the present moment. I think you should make that bumper sticker.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love this blog stuff!!!! It is so wonderful to visit with you and to hear all of your voices!!
