It was a good day. I knew it when I started tearing up before bedtime because I didn't want the day to end. I guess I don't do that often enough - just take a day to hang out with Omar and follow our noses. Art went to play paintball with his friends from work, so we were on our own. We walked to the puppet shop, koo koo cafe (read the hungry caterpillar), walked to Coolidge Corner and bought a pretty skirt at a secondhand store, bought an outfit for Omar with a lion on it on clearance at baby gap. It was a great fall day - very sunny, just a little windy. Just cool enough for Omar to feel cozy cuddled up at my chest in the carrier. We took a break on a park bench to give Omar a little something to drink and change his diaper, then walked to Trader Joes to buy a few groceries. Omar was on the verge of giggling all day long, so it was fun to just tip him over the edge by tickling him just right. All around, people were mirroring his smiling face back at him. We walked back home and when we got there - Dad was driving up! We decided not to cook, and instead found a great Indian restaurant we had never noticed. It was so good it reminded me of when my friend Mercy cooked dinner for us one night when we needed some comfort food during a difficult finals week.
As he nursed to sleep, Omar started sleep-smiling - as he often does - but this time he broke into a full on laugh and woke himself up! I just wanted to write this all down so I don't forget it. It was a good day.
What a truly wonderful account of your day!...a beautiful memory...Dad and I are so looking forward to having a day like this with Omar! We had a really special day today with Liam and Logan. Ahh the be here now reminder to really be with these beautiful children!!!
